Willow’s First Tooth Takes A Tumble

About this time last year, we were all excited as Ayla lost her first tooth.  Willow, who was 4 at the time, got upset because she wanted to lose a tooth so the Tooth Fairy would come and visit her too.

A year on, and Willow has lost her first tooth.  While doing the whole brushing teeth before bed routine, the little tooth tumbled out of her mouth and hit the floor. (more…)

Must Be Spring Time - Baby Bird Bonanza

As the days are getting warmer, the mozzies come to snack, there is some little chirping, coming from the back.  You see, our birds have babies, or in the least they have eggs, something that I never thought, I’d ever get to see…

Sorry, but I thought I would go with the spirit of the season.  Indeed, our finches are in the process of raising their 3rd brood (in as many months), with 5 little heads stretching up to be fed this time.  Talk about more than doubling their breeding efforts! (more…)

Poor Tedda Bear, and Poor Acacia

Our little Acacia is currently separated from her Tedda Bear at the moment, and she is, to say the least, a little bit lost.

The fact that it is her own fault just makes it that little bit funnier, though watching Acacia mooching around and asking for Tedda is pulling at the heart strings.

Apparently, Acacia decided to share her juice with Tedda, and not just a sip or two either, an entire bath of juice!  That has meant Tedda has had to have his second trip to the washing machine in as many years. (more…)

13 Years And Still Going Strong!

Crazy blog, strange blog, ‘what was she thinking’ blog – that is what you are all going to be saying after reading this one!

So, what has been going strong for 13 years?  My glasses of course!  And here you were thinking that it was my relationship, got another 5 years to go for that!

Yes, in September 1996, my mother bought me my glasses.  Rather pricey frames too, but they were the ones I had to have.  It is just coincidence my darling mother had the same pair in purple frames, honest it is!!!

I didn’t start out having to wear glasses full time, just for reading off the blackboard at school.  That changed for needing them for doing anything close, and it has gone back and forwards over the years. (more…)

Woe Is Willow

Yes, I have the most beautiful little monkeys in the world, but that doesn’t mean they are easy to wrangle all the time.

Over the last few months, I have noticed an alarming trend in the behaviour or Willow.  Nothing that can’t be managed and nothing too serious, just something that is tiring to deal with and takes up way too much of our time.

The first time I noticed this happening, was not long after she started school.  Naturally, I just put it down to her being tired from a big day of playing and learning, but apparently that isn’t it at all – this problem is even worse on the weekends.

What am I talking about?  Not entirely sure to tell you, but I’m starting to think Oppositional Defiance Disorder, which if you turn it into an acronym spells ODD and we all know Willow is just that! (but in the loveable way of course).

I have done some reading, spoken to other parents with children who have similar behaviours and even spoken to Les about getting Willow seen to by a child behaviourist (though he’d rather play ostrich). (more…)
