I Love My Sleep

Waiting For Sleep

It is early morning, and I’m still awake,
the world is quiet around me.
I knew I shouldn’t have eaten that cake,
for it did nothing to tire me.

Here I sit, pen and paper in had,
and no one else is stirring.
I’m waiting for the brain command,
and now it is whirring… (more)

Yes, sleep is something I quite enjoy, yet I never seem to get enough or the right quality of sleep, but that’s only because I am a mum and love indulging in writing, reading, cross stitch and computer time once my angels are all tucked up for the night.

The night (or should I say morning) I wrote this poem, I was out the front of the house, enjoying the peace and quiet.  I had been writing much of the night, and while tired, was not quite ready for bed.

Not long after writing the poem, I did go to bed with the intention of sleep, but if I remember correctly, sleep actually still took me quite a while to hit me.

Ah well, here’s to hoping that I start to get some real sleep soon.

  1. Hi darling .. first time in a while I’ve had the chance to catch up on your wonderful site!!! We have had non-stop visitors (both staying and just coming around) and then it was back to work for me yesterday!
Loved reading all your latest news and seeing photos of the children on Christmas Day - also very happy you have found the hamper (plus contents) handy!! :)
This year I am working Mon/Wed/Fri which will be good with that break in between and ALSO it will mean I will get paid for any stat hols which fall on a Monday or Friday .. yay!!
Reading about your temps in Gympie was a revelation - we only reached 37deg which was bad enough (did call for a dip in the pool tho).
Greg went home on Saturday but he was a wonderful help around the yard which we got stuck into whilst he was here (only from about 8-11am each day as it got too hot to be outside after that). Anyway the yard is looking so much better - in fact we even went out a bought a couple more plants to replace those lost in the ‘drought’.
Not a lot of news pet, just happy to catch up on yours - I love the set up of your site and all the lovely ’sparkly, pulsating’ stars etc. Keep up the good work.
Love & kisses to you and yours xxxx

I’m glad you have stopped by again. I did make a point of getting pics of the girls at christmas up as quickly as possible as it is easier for you to see them here than it is for us to email them. I think the computer would die if I even tried it!
Yes, the hamper goodies have certainly been a delight. We have consumed much of them, but there is still sooo much to go!
Must be good being back at work. Great that you are being paid for public holidays too. And to manage having a day between must be good, means you can really have some relax and unwind time without having to wait for the weekend.
Glad you put Greg to work! lol. I bet the yard is looking much better now. We should send you the water our air con is pumping out, as it is just going to waste at the moment, though there are plans to create our own portable garden soon.
Yes,it has been super hot here! Though the last few days have been much more pleasant, though the temperature is going up again. Wish we had a pool, though I guess we will just be able to come and use yours soon! lol.
Thanks for stopping by, must send you an email as we are ready to start looking for our wheels now ;). My site is always being added to, so please keep checking back and let me know if links etc don’t work so I can fix them. Constructive criticism is after all the one thing that will help me to improve on my own little web.
