Computer Troubles- How To Frustrate The NewZealtralian.

Using the computer is a must for me, and at least every day at that.  My main connection to the outside world is via the internet, and I rely on it for some sanity and more adult contact.

You would think then that a new computer would behave itself, being uncorrupted and all.  But no, not my computers.  Both of my new laptops have been giving me grief over the last week or so.

Let’s see.  It began with my little white netbook not wanting to hibernate, even though that was what it was set to do.  That got sorted out, though nearly left me bald from the stress.

That problem then progressed to a full internet lock out.  My anti virus software had a hissy fit and decided to not let me use the internet at all.  I stupidly thought the whole idea of anti virus software was to protect me while I was using the internet, not protect me by disabling the internet all together.  Any way, now I know what the problem is, I just have to change the settings every time I go to use that computer.  Annoying, but at least I can fix it myself.

The next problem would be that Internet Explorer won’t let me view some of my fave sites, even though I’ve used them with IE only the day before.  No probs, I just downloaded Firefox, and now that is fixed too…I hope.

The problems with computers come from the fact that they are designed, built and maintained by humans, who are by far, the most flawed species on Earth.

I think too often, we forget that on the other end is a person writing the programs we use, and that they are often up half the night, drinking coffee to keep themselves awake, in order to keep our little world’s spinning.  Maybe they should lay off the coffee and just go to bed- might make my little world turn more smoothly.

Now I’m hoping that all the problems are sorted, and I can get back to doing what I do best- enjoying the sites I visit and seeing the lives of others from the other side of the world.
