Gympie On Flood Alert

Yes, it is raining pretty hard here at the moment.  Of course it is, we are moving house after all, and it always rains then.

Last night, it rained pretty much nonstop and it hasn’t let up at all today.  Our backyard is a swimming pool, which probably means a fence is going to have to be built around it to keep council happy! LOL.  Let’s not go there about pool fencing regulations, because we could be here all night.

The radio has just informed us that the Mary River (the only one in Australia to run from the South to the North) is close to bursting her banks, and that she is expected to within the next few hours.

There is already flash flooding in some lower lying areas, but not near us (though the backyard says otherwise).  This is expected to stick around for a while yet.

Over night, they expect the rain to get heavier, and a severe weather warning has been issued for the Wide Bay and Cooloola regions (we are Cooloola) meaning flash flooding, thunder, lightening and possible high winds (not what you need when you are trying to move!!!).

Well, we better get the damned flooding this time because I am still peeved that we didn’t get any from the cyclone a month ago or the rain further south a couple of weeks ago.  Damn it!  Flood Gympie, I want to show everyone what it looks like when the bottom of our street floods!!!!!  With pictures from my own camera!!!!

It looks like we are going to get our 1 in 10 year flood, our 1 in 25 year flood, our 1 in 50 year flood and our 1 in 100 year flood, all of which, we are overdue for.
