13 Years And Still Going Strong!

Crazy blog, strange blog, ‘what was she thinking’ blog – that is what you are all going to be saying after reading this one!

So, what has been going strong for 13 years?  My glasses of course!  And here you were thinking that it was my relationship, got another 5 years to go for that!

Yes, in September 1996, my mother bought me my glasses.  Rather pricey frames too, but they were the ones I had to have.  It is just coincidence my darling mother had the same pair in purple frames, honest it is!!!

I didn’t start out having to wear glasses full time, just for reading off the blackboard at school.  That changed for needing them for doing anything close, and it has gone back and forwards over the years.

Now, and for the last few years, I have found I have to wear them all the time, or I end up with bad headaches.  Well, you can imagine with 5 kids, and me being a not so graceful person, that it has been rather hard to keep my glasses intact.

Sure, the arms are stretched, the lenses have constant finger prints, and I have had to invest in a glasses repair kit, but they are still going strong.  The materials they are made from haven’t eroded or corroded one little bit.

The screws holding the arms in place are showing signs or rust, though it is more like tarnish and 13 years worth of grime, but I haven’t had to replace them yet.

I do need new glasses, just have to get my eyes tested and then I can get them, but I’m not entirely sure I want to give up the ones I have now.  Maybe my new ones can be for going out, as I want the transition lenses so I don’t have to swap glasses every  time I walk into and out of a shop.  If I do that, then these ones will be my home ones, which will still get used the most.

The point of this blog?  Not sure.  Like I said at the start, you are going to think I am crazy, but that’s ok, because I already know it!

So, happy 13 years my glasses, I’m going to do my best to nurse you through the next 13!
